I, too, was a Suzuki student, beginning at 3 years old and continuing until 18. During my 15 years as a student, I received my tutelage under Master Teacher Linda Gillette in Fredonia. My mother was also a Suzuki piano teacher for over 20 years, and because of her background, she was able to exemplify firsthand what responsibilities and support a Suzuki parent offers.
While I have been actively playing the piano for my congregation in church as well as playing the piano and teaching music for our children’s Primary in church, I have decided to also complete Suzuki Piano teaching training through Suzuki Associations of the Americas.
My teaching methods require me to be flexible based on the child’s personality and previous experience, as every child is different. Overall, the learning space needs to be uplifting, fun, safe, and open. My philosophy mirrors Suzuki's philosophy of creating the right environment for learning music to foster confidence and musicianship at a high standard.
